Product detailed description
Santoku/Kiritsuke chef's kitchen knife Suncraft Elegance®
The Santoku knife is a versatile knife that originated in Japan. Santoku means "three virtues" - it can handle slicing, shredding and chopping meat, vegetables and fish. The Sheepsfoot blade has a straight edge and a blunt tip that runs parallel to the blade and then curls down towards the tip, like a grazing sheep. This blade pattern was originally designed for cutting and slicing work where a sharp point could lead to unwanted punctures or cuts. The blunt spine allows you to grip the blade securely with your fingers ("choking") or extend your finger to increase fine blade control for delicate work.
A collection of knives made from premium materials that contribute to their long life. The handle of the knife changes naturally over time, while the brass guard acquires a unique patina. You can follow these transformations for years and the knife will become your tool of choice.
Knives from the Suncraft Elegancia collection represent the perfect combination of traditional Japanese craftsmanship and modern materials. The blades are made of premium SG2 stainless steel, which is known for its extreme sharpness, long life and high corrosion resistance. The high blade and gently curved handle increase the space under the handle. Even a man with a large hand can comfortably grip the handle without touching the cutting board with his fingers. The handle fits perfectly in the hand and provides a firm, comfortable grip for maximum control when slicing. It is symmetrically shaped, which means that the knife is suitable for both right and left-handed users. The brass bolster acquires a patina over time and looks more elegant, shabby and antique. So over the years, the knife will become your own and your favourite just like an old friend. The knives are made by skilled craftsmen in the city of Seki, Japan, which is now world famous for knife making.
