They will be much sharper than when you bought the knives. These grinding stones are a combination of a certain amount of the best synthetic and natural materials. Thanks to years of hard work and research by a Japanese craftsman named MORIHEI, these natural-synthetic stones with the best cutting properties have been created.
Natural-synthetic water-based abrasive stones are available in #500, #1000, #4000, #6000, #8000 and #12000 grits - each of which is baked at a different and significantly lower temperature than conventional synthetic abrasive stones. Resin is used as a bonding agent, as opposed to synthetic grinding stones, where mostly magnesium is used. You can test the versatility of this stone not only on knives, but you can sharpen scissors, axes, razors, chisels, pocket and hunting knives. There is no need to soak this stone - just pour a little water on it and the grinding can begin.
Nagura cleaning stones are preparation/repair and cleaning stones used together with conventional grinding stones.
Nagura is used to create a grinding paste, cleaning glazed/"clogged" grinding stones of metal chips that prevent sharpening or leveling of the work surface. By forming a grinding paste, Nagura promotes an even, more controlled sharpening that eliminates bouncing between blade and stone. Nagura also helps break down the grain particles of the host stone into smaller, finer elements.
