Product detailed description
Japanese Santoku knife Hokiyama Sakon+ Vee-Tech
Before 2300, people in Japan began forging iron to make tools. During the 14th century, cutting tools similar to today's kitchen knives appeared here. Over the past centuries, blacksmiths and craftsmen have developed many types of steel and types of knives. In 2010, an innovative blade was produced that has a self-regenerating edge.
Vee-Tech is a brand new patented treatment that was originally developed for aircraft and spacecraft. It has produced an excellent blade that stays sharp longer than ever before! This treatment replaces the traditional steel blade with a micro carbide alloy.
By sealing extremely hard micro carbide particles into the steel, a blade with high-tech armour protection is created, which renews itself during use. Regeneration is due to the difference in hardness between steel and micro carbide. This regeneration phenomenon is similar to that of a shark's tooth - if one part breaks, it automatically regenerates and grows bigger. This is the secret to why Vee-Tech blades can maintain their incredible sharpness without sharpening. This incredible edge retention and sharpness has been proven by CATRA tests and professional chefs in practice.
Another advantage of the Sakon+ Vee-Tech blade is that you can sharpen it as needed at any time using conventional sharpeners, as it has a stainless steel blade. So you can use these knives in both home and professional kitchens. Sakon+ has a unique handle made of synthetic marble, which is a display of elegance and cool beauty. The material is non-porous and resists mould and bacteria when properly cleaned (with water and detergent). That's all the care your Sakon+ knife needs.

Recommendations and maintenance

Attention Each knife is made of natural materials. Each piece of steel is original and inimitable, so your knife may not look exactly like the photo. The knife you receive will be of the same quality and detail, but may vary slightly. |
Sharpening a kitchen knife
we recommend the use of diamond and water grinding stones for the knife edge. If you are not 100% confident in your skills and abilities, please contact us. We will sharpen your knives individually according to your wishes. We also regularly organize knife sharpening courses. Alternatively, look for a professional grinder in your area. Damage that could result from unprofessional grinding is irreversible.
Cleaning the kitchen knife:
Particles attached to the blade surface from aggressive substances can begin to corrode and form rust-like stains on the blade surface. However, it's not the blade that rusts, it's the attached particles. For example, baking soda is commonly used for removal, which when soaked forms a "slurry" and an old cork.
