Engraving is one of the most respected and demanding metal decorations. Gold inlaid engraving is much more demanding and complex than the classical art form of engraving. Gold inlay involves the creation of a fine engraving with deep relief and the insertion of 24K gold into selected parts of the engraving. To create the engravings on the Dragon Sign Engraved knife, Dellinger chose a world-renowned master engraverwho created the finest details in both the handle and the blade of the knife. Each engraving is carefully conceived and controlled.

Damascus steel has been used by several Western cultures since about the Middle Ages. This steel originally originated in India and was widely used for the manufacture of weapons and blades from 300 BC to about 1700 AD. These blades were characterized by a distinctive pattern (hatching and marbling) that often resembled flowing water. Damascene steel is not only hard but also tough enough. It consists of 2 welded carbon steels 1095 and 15N20. The damascus staves are hand forged from a minimum of 300 layers.

The remarkable design of this work of art embodies a timeless heritage that can be proudly displayed, but also used for a lifetime before being passed on to the next generation.
