Product detailed description
Japanese chef's knife Kengata Santoku 160 mm
Knives from the series Sakai Takayuki 33 layers VG-10 are made of 33 layers of stainless steel - damasteel with a core of Japanese VG10 steel. The blades are extremely sharp and the core reaches a hardness of around 60 HRC. It holds sharpness well and gives a light and balanced impression. The handles of these knives are handcrafted from beautiful and contoured mahogany wood that is water resistant. Each knife is hand-ground at an angle of 18 degrees on each side, precisely to ensure maximum sharpness. We highly recommend that you see for yourself the outstanding performance and beauty of these damascus knives.
The Kengata SANTOKU knife is a ruthless kitchen warrior that is ready for all your wishes. The Japanese word "santoku" is roughly translated as "three virtues", which is indicative of the versatility of this knife style and the type of cuts it excels at (cutting, slicing and grinding). The blade is usually shorter than a chef's knife with a significantly different geometry. The Santoku knife is often claimed to be a fusion between a chef's knife and a nakiri, giving you the benefits of both. The higher facet reduces friction, making slicing more precise. Kengata SANTOKU is the perfect companion when working with meat, fish, vegetables and fruit. You will appreciate the unsurpassed properties of the knife, for example, when slicing onions. The sharpness of the blade ensures minimal liquid leakage and your food will be full of juices and vitamins. Japanese art and new technologies make this knife unique and inimitable. Santoku made of damasteel steel with a VG10 core has a perfectly balanced blade with a Tsuchime (hammer finish). The surface not only gives the knife a great look, but also prevents the cut material from sticking to the blade.
We recommend buying a sheath or protective cap for the knife.
