WOOTZ steel
Traditional steel material originating from South India and Central Asia. This material has been used since antiquity and was known for its high hardness, durability and aesthetic value. The production of Wootz steel was based on the steelmaking technology that was the forerunner of modern high-temperature furnaces. Wootz steel was made from iron ore mixed with carbon and other impurities such as chromium, nickel and tungsten. This production process was very complex and involved many stages such as melting, forging and re-annealing.

Wootz steel was known for its characteristic wavy or marbled patterns that were created during the manufacturing process. These designs were very popular among craftsmen and artists and were often used to make decorative knives, swords and other weapons. Today, the production of Wootz steel is very rare and is mainly used by traditional craftsmen. However, modern steels are generally more efficient and more readily available for industrial production. Yet Wootz steel remains a valuable material for collectors and lovers of traditional craftsmanship and art.

Sharpening a kitchen knife
we recommend the use of diamond and water grinding stones for the knife edge. If you are not 100% confident in your skills and abilities, please contact us. We will sharpen your knives individually according to your wishes. We also regularly organize knife sharpening courses. Alternatively, look for a professional grinder in your area. Damage that could result from unprofessional grinding is irreversible.

Cleaning the kitchen knife:
Particles attached to the blade surface from aggressive substances can begin to corrode and form rust-like stains on the blade surface. However, it's not the blade that rusts, it's the attached particles. For example, baking soda is commonly used for removal, which when soaked forms a "slurry" and an old cork.
